Common Questions

Find answers to common questions.

Do I really need Life Insurance?

Life Insurance is not right for everyone, but it can provide financial support for people who depend on you and can help repay a mortgage if you die during the policy term. We’ll help you decide what protection is appropriate.

How much cover should I have?

The right amount depends on what you want the policy to provide for, such as repaying a mortgage, replacing income or supporting your family. We’ll consider existing cover, your budget and how long protection is needed.

What’s the difference between Life Insurance and Critical Illness Cover?

Life Insurance pays out if the insured person dies during the policy term. Critical Illness Cover can pay a lump sum after diagnosis of a specified serious condition that meets the policy definition. The two covers can be arranged together or separately.

Do I need Income Protection if I get sick pay?

It may still be useful if your employer’s sick pay is limited or would not cover your regular commitments for long. We’ll review how much you receive, how long it lasts and whether additional protection would fill a meaningful gap.

Can I get cover if I have a medical condition?

Often, yes. Insurers will assess the condition, treatment and medical history and may offer standard terms, charge a higher premium, exclude certain conditions or occasionally decline cover. We’ll approach suitable insurers for your circumstances.

How much does protection cost?

Premiums depend on factors such as age, health, smoking status, occupation, the type and amount of cover and the policy term. We’ll compare suitable options and explain how changing the cover affects the cost.

Can I change my cover later?

Policies can often be reviewed or replaced when your circumstances change, and some include options to increase cover after certain life events. Any change may require new underwriting, so speak to us before cancelling existing protection.
